Uganda: All Eyes On KCC

3 July 2009

Coach George 'Best' Nsimbe has maintained that he will not tinker with his triumphant starting line-up when KCC FC engage Tanzania's Prisons FC in their second Group B tie of the on-going Cecafa-Kagame Club Championship at Khartoum Stadium this evening.

The Kasasiro boys' tactician, whose charges beat tournament favourites TP Mazembe of DR Congo (breaking their 29-match winning streak) on Wednesday, have vowed to take game after game. "I'm not yet thinking about the finals, but taking one game at a time with lots of seriousness," said Nsimbe after a light work-out yesterday morning.

The former Cranes and KCC mid-fielder praised his boys for the job well done against TP Mazembe, but asked them to turn on the style again against the Tanzanian outfit. "We respect all the teams in this tournament, but we want to show that we are also one of the best sides in the region," boasted Nsimbe, who admitted that he still feels bad that KCC failed to make it into the group stages of the lucrative CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup.

Goalkeeper Tony Okello, who sprung a couple of matching winning saves against the Congolese league champions is expected to keep his place alongside the strong back four of Moses Muhindo, Sam Ssenoga, Moses Musoke and skipper Sam Mubiru. Tommy Okello and Anthony Bongole, who hit the back of the net each are expected to start whereas Jeremiah Ssebuyira, scorer of third, will start on the sidelines to make way for hard working Robert Ssentongo.

A win for KCC will guarantee them a place in the last eight before they even kick a ball in the third group game. However, they will have to take care of Prisons' pair of Said Mtupah and John Matei, who scored in the 2-all draw against Benadir of Somalia on Wednesday.

"We respect KCC because they are a big team and play good football. But in football any thing can happen," warned Prisons coach Hassan Mwilo.

As KCC go all out seeking a second win, TP Mazembe's worried French coach Diego Garzitto will hope that his team can pick themselves up against Somalia's Benadir FC.

In Port Sudan, two group C games will be on card with Zanzibar's Miembeni FC battling the defending champions Tusker , while Inter Stars of Burundi face Sudan's second side Hay Al-Arab FC.
