Tororo — Coach James Mugeni reckons Agnes Aneno can qualify for the finals and go on to win a medal at the World Youth Championships due next week in Sudtirol, Italy.

Aneno, 17, is leading a team of four to Italy on Sunday. "This girl is making tremendous improvement," coach Mugeni, told Daily Monitor as he prepared to take the runner through training drills at Tororo Municipal Stadium on Wednesday.

"She runs better every time she competes. My target is for her to run well and qualify for next year's World Junior Championships in Canada," added Mugeni. Despite joining the sport only a year ago, Aneno has taken the athletics world by a storm.

She scooped three medals at Eastern Africa Youth Championships held in April in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
