Uganda: Mubiru Makes Return for Mmamba

Norman Katende

2 July 2009

Kampala — MMAMBA Gabunga is borrowing the adage of 'the old broom knows all the corners', by bringing in former internationals veterans Ibrahim Buwembo and Hassan Mubiru in their quest for Bika soccer glory.

Buwembo was a Cranes top striker in the 1980s and Mubiru in the 1990s. They face Nvubu today in the Kobil sponsored Bika soccer action. Statewide Insurance and City Tyres are also co-sponsors of the Buganda annual gala.

Another veteran Mathias Kaweesa set the tournament alight when Ffumbe beat Ngeye in the opening game. The match between Balangira and Mutima, originally set for tomorrow, has been postponed to Sunday.

Meanwhile, James Kabanda scored the lone goal as Mbogo eliminated Butiko 1-0 yesterday.
