Kampala — SECURITY officials are searching for three Ugandan youth from Agoro and Madi-Opei sub-counties in Kitgum district. The youth disappeared on June 16 while on a business trip in South Sudan.
Kitgum resident district commissioner Alfred Omony-Ogaba said a fresh search was due soon after the Police and South Sudan security officials failed to conduct one last week.
"The team could not go ahead with the search due to logistical problems," Omony-Ogaba, who is also the chairman of the district security committee, explained.
Kitgum criminal investigations chief John Odwogo identified the missing men as James Komakec-Ogwok, 24, from Ywaya village in Agoro sub-county; Patrick Omon, 28, from Te-Got-Kwera village and Constantine Okwera, 28, from Guda in Madi-Opei sub-county, all in Kitgum district.
The South Sudan Head of Mission, Jimmy Ongee, however, told The New Vision last week that Komakec was arrested in Ikotos in South Sudan on June 16, for allegedly dealing in fake currency.
Ugandan Police dismissed the claim.
