Kampala — OVER 250 religious leaders from over 160 countries are expected in Uganda for the third World Scouts Inter-religious Symposium in October.
The event is expected to run from October 21-25 at at the Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo.
Uganda was selected to host the symposium in recognition for its outstanding contribution to the global scouting fraternity, according to the International Union of Muslim Scouts deputy secretary general, Hussain Sahl.
"Uganda is the most active member in Africa. The world scouting movement is depending on Uganda to make this conference the best since 2003," Sahl said while addressing journalists in Kampala recently.
President Yoweri Museveni, who is the scouts patron, is expected to officiate at the opening ceremony.
The symposium is organised by the World Scouts Association.
It is held every three years. The first two meetings were in Spain in 2003 and Taiwan in 2006.
