Nigeria: Enwerem's Family Fight Over Property

Lagos — Members of the family of the late former SenatePresident Evan Enwerem are currently locked in a legal battle over one of the properties of the late politician.

Chief Vivienne Enwerem, widow of the deceased had dragged Miguel and Richard Enwerem, children of the former Senate President, before Justice Morenike Olaturegun-Ishola, of the Federal High Court, Lagos, praying the court to appoint a Receiver/Manager to oversee and manage the affairs of Ideal Holdings Limited one of the disputed properties.

Others joined in the suit are New Betta shoe Company Limited and Ideal Holdings Limited. She is also asking the court to order the two respondents to give an account of all the Company's monies that have come into their possession including and not limited to rents received from 240 lockup shops and 4 warehouses at 94/96 Ladipo street, Lagos since 2007.

Vivienne Enwerem further wants an orders that the respondents, in conjunction with her, convene an Annual General Meeting of the Company and take steps to regularize the affairs of the Company in line with the provisions of the Companies and Allied Matters Act. The petitioner is also praying for an order of perpetual injunction restraining the Directors from collecting the Company's monies, using the said sum or in any way dissipating and/or liquidating the Company's assets until the proper number of subscribers are in place and the affairs of the Company is regularized at the Corporate Affairs Commission in accordance with the CAMA 2004.
