Nigeria: BPE Resolves Tussle Over Transcorp Hilton Hotel

Abuja — The Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Dr. Christopher Anyanwu, yesterday met with the leadership of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (TRANSCORP) and Capital Leisure and Hospitality Limited to resolve the tussle over the ownership of 51 percent equity in Transcorp Hilton Hotels, Abuja .

A statement signed by BPE's Head of Public Communications, Mr. Chigbo Anichebe, revealed that, the parties have, after their meeting, agreed to resolve their differences amicably for the interest of the business and continued growth and development of the hotel.

The parties have equally agreed to vacate all pending litigations in respect of the ownership of 51 percent equity in the hotel with immediate effect.

Recall that Capital Leisure and Hospitality Consortium, comprising Transnational Corporation of Nigeria, Kapital Insurance Company Limited, Capital Tourism and Hospitality Limited, NSTIF and Harris Dredging Limited won the bid for the 51 percent equity in NIRMSCO Properties Limited in the financial bid opening held on 11 October 2005.

The parties have scheduled another meeting to review progress made in their negotiations.

Transcorp Group was represented by its Chairman, Professor Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke while Capital Leisure was represented by its Managing Director Mr. Mohammed Kari.
