The Action Alliance (AA) has formally inaugurated its 31-member national executive council (NEC) that would steer the affairs of the party in the next four years.

Newly sworn-in National Chairman of the party Senator Suleiman A. Salawu said at the inauguration that the party is committed to an egalitarian Nigeria where series of dichotomy and segregation would be a thing of the past.

"We have observed with keen interest the political development in Nigeria and the role of political parties in our nation's development. What we practice today as democracy is one characterised by violence, thuggery and injustice. We are therefore committed to an egalitarian Nigeria where series of dichotomy and segregation including indigeneship among others would be a thing of the past.

"We are going to bring about democracy which is interwoven with our culture, where there would be no violence, thuggery or injustice. We are going to produce a more humane and friendly government where the views of the common man would be respected," Senator Salawu said.

The inauguration of the NEC is sequel to the national convention of the party held last May in Ibadan, Oyo State, where the party that changed its name in 2005 from National Mass Movement of Nigeria (NMMN) elected the new executives.

Other members of the executive committee are, Chief J. F. Okwuobi, deputy national chairman, Barrister Kenneth Udeze and Alhassan A. Salisu as national secretary and deputy national secretary respectively, while each of the six geo-political zones have one national vice chairman each.
