Nigeria: Siasia Leads Eagles to Qatar

Flying Eagles Chief Coach, Samson Siasia will soon commence final preparations for the 2009 FIFA junior World Cup as he gets set to lead his team out of the country on Wednesday to a training camp in Qatar.

The Championship will take place in Egypt between September/October this year.

According to the Chief Media Officer of the Nigeria Football Federation, Mr. Ademola Olajire, the training tour has been made possible through a collaboration agreement between the Nigeria Football Federation and the Qatar Football Association, as well as the Academy for Sports Excellence (ASPIRE) based in Doha .

He explained that the world -class sports academy has eye -popping facilities that will help Coach Samson Siasia put his players through some level of hard work, to determine those who will be able to measure up to World Cup standard.

Olajire disclosed that a team of 29 players and 10 technical officials will fly out of Lagos aboard Qatar Airways on Wednesday evening, to arrive in Doha by midnight . The team will stay at the hostel of the ASPIRE Academy also located within the Aspire Zone. After spending 10 days in Doha, the Flying Eagles will jet out for Cairo for a four -nation invitational tournament that will also include hosts Egypt.

Siasia and his team will return to Doha at the end of July to utilize the remaining 11 days on the offer.

He said all the visas are being processed from Qatar as that is the procedure for anyone traveling to Qatar.
