Henceforth, the FCT Administration says it will not condone low standard houses in any of the Mass Housing sites in the Federal Capital Territory.

The FCT Minister, Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero, made this disclosure on Tuesday, while receiving the Group Managing Director of the United African Company (UAC) in Gwarimpa I District, Abuja.

The Minister, who lamented the sub-standard houses in some of the Mass Housing project sites in the Federal Capital Territory, stated that such low quality houses built are unacceptable.

Senator Aliero reiterated that the FCT Administration is willing to partner and support any member of the Organised Private Sector to develop qualitative houses for the residents of the Federal Capital Territory but anything short of that shall be resisted. He opined that government alone would not be able to provide basic infrastructure as well as houses for the residents of the Federal Capital Territory but would continue to provide an enabling environment.

The Minister challenged the UAC to come forward to partner with the FCT Administration to provide secondary and primary infrastructures in an earmarked district for the mutual benefit of all the stakeholders.

His words: "The FCT Administration is now in partnership with the First Bank of Nigeria Plc to provide basic infrastructure in the whole of Katampe District of the Federal Capital City and other conglomerates are also welcome in the same vein".

Senator Aliero remarked that opportunities are abound in the Federal Capital Territory in Agriculture, Industry as well as Property development and charged the UAC to take advantage.

The Minister emphasised that the FCT Administration will fully cooperate with any member of the Organised Private Sector to foster the cause of the residents of the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking earlier, the Group Managing Director of the United African Company, Mr. Larry Ettah assured the Minister of the readiness of his company to partner with the FCT Administration in the mass housing development.

He however complained of some of their plots that had problems of double allocations and in some cases encroachment by some illegal occupants which he asked the Minister to please intervene.
