THE Zambia International Trade Fair yesterday entered its second day on a slow note with few people going through the gates.
Some exhibitors were, however, busy explaining their products and services to the trade fair judges who were in several groups and had started their duty as early as 08:30 hours. Not all the exhibitors had their stands ready by then.
A Ghanaian exhibitor said she arrived in Zambia recently and that her stand would be ready for display by today. Odeki Ghana Limited director Eunice Obuobi said her stand was not ready because she only arrived in the country on Tuesday.
Ms Obuobi said her company would be displaying and selling cooking pots and other household products made in Ghana. She became aware of the trade fair through a friend at the Ghanaian embassy in Zambia.
Other exhibitors who were ready with their stands were on the other hand recording sales. MS Happy Export and Import Company of Egypt general manager Ehab Said Soufan said that he had sold a number of products.
Mr Soufan, who is exhibiting for the 11th year, said business was good so far. He said his company, which deals in leather jackets and belts, home décor and jewelry, always made it a point to sell at the ZITF because of the good profits it makes.
MS Happy Export and Import Company also takes part in trade shows in the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa. School-going children had an opportunity to view the stands at half the gate charges yesterday. One of the schools that attended the trade fair was Tiny Teens Pre-school of Northrise in Ndola.
Barbara Munshe, a teacher, said the children were attending the trade fair because it was an opportunity for them to visit different places as part of several school trips. Ms Munshe said her pupils were excited about visiting the trade fair.
