Abuja — Seidu Ashara, the prime suspect in the ongoing trial over the murder of the Chairman of Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Samuel Gwamna, was on Thursday given a clean bill of health by the investigating police officer (IPO), Sunday Maichibi.

Ashara was the vice chairman of the council when the deceased was chairman.

Maichibi, who was testifying before Justice Abubakar Talba of the Abuja High Court in Gudu said investigation was not conclusive before the accused persons, Ashara and his Personal Assistant, Adamu Pai, were charged to court.

"From the evidence available in court, his accusations towards the accused persons was purely based on facts of information, insinuations and for which there was no direct evidence linking the accused with the death of the former chairman," witness said.

Maichibi also told the court that nothing was recovered from the accused persons linking them with the death of the chairman.

The witness, under cross-examination, admitted that the killers and assailants are unknown and investigations were still open and on going by the police.
