Lagos — Globacom will on Monday commence a new promotion that will create about 103 millionaires from its existing and new subscribers within a space of 90 days.
Globacom's Executive Director, Human Resources, Mr. Adewale Sangowawa who announced the promo on Thursday in Lagos, said it would turn out to be the largest promotion in Nigeria in terms of total cash payout, coupled with the large number of millionaires to be created.
Tagged "Text 4 Millions", the promo is expected to offer N150 million cash to 103 subscribers that will emerge winners at the promo and N50 million consolation prizes.
Giving details of the promo through a demonstration, Globacom's Head, Value Added Services, Mr. Samson Isa said "ninety winners will be picked in daily draws and each winner gets N1 million each during the course of the promo, and a bonus winner of N1 million will also be drawn every week for ten weeks."
He added that a sum of N10 million each would be won by lucky subscribers during two of the monthly draws and presentations, while N30 million would be won by one lucky subscriber at the grand finale scheduled for the end of the 90 days promo, bringing the total number of expected millionaires to 103.
Other prizes of free airtime worth N50 million will also be given out to lucky subscribers during the course of the promo. According to Globacom's Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Mohammed Jameel "the promo is being organised to reach out to the company's large number of subscribers, touch their lives and reward them for their patronage."
The Glo Text 4 Millions promo is an SMS based promotion that simply requires subscribers to send blank texts to 555. Shortly after the blank text is sent, the sender receives a prompt from Globacom, acknowledging the receipt of the blank text. Questions relating to subscribers' hobby will be asked and marks will be awarded in form of points that the subscriber need to accumulate over a time to get a win.
The more text messages a subscriber sends, the greater his chances of winning. Each text costs N100. Subscribers who which to become millionaires are advised to play the game and win big. Globacom has however advised subscribers not to fall prey to fraudsters who will want to use the occasion of the promo to defraud innocent subscribers. Winners of the promo, Globacom said, would be contacted on phone and invited to Globacom office for prize presentation.
"On no account should subscribers pay money to anybody as to process fees. Globacom will not invite winners through text messages nor through the internet. Globacom will inform winners through a phone call and winners will be invited to Globacom office nearest to them. Do not allow fraudsters to deceive you," Globacom said. It added that the names of winners will be published on its website and in national newspapers.
