Abuja — National Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party, Edwin Ume-Ezeoke, said on Thursday that the leadership of his party has concluded plans to challenge the defection of Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, and 17 members of the state House of Assembly to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ume-Ezeoke who spoke to newsmen at the end of the party's caucus meeting that lasted for two days in Abuja, described the action of the governor and the legislators in Bauchi State as serious breach of the Constitution, adding that they should vacate their seats in line with the rule of law.
"We have decided t go to court to seek for an order declaring those seats vacant," he said.
On the outcome of the party caucus meeting, the ANPP leader said the leadership decided to postpone the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting slated for today because of the pressing problems and complaints brought to the meeting by the aggrieved party members.
In order to resolve the plethora of problems confronting the party, Ume-Ezeoke said a committee whose membership was drawn from all parts of the country has been set up to carefully look into all the complaints and make recommendations to the party leadership within two weeks.
