Gambia: Quadriyya Leader Calls for Steadfastness in Islam

Sheikh Muhammed Hydara, founder of the Quadriyya Foundation in The Gambia, who is currently on a visit to The Gambia, has called on Muslims to be steadfast in practising the Islamic religion.

The Quadriyya brotherhood leader made this remark last Tuesday afternoon, during an exclusive interview with the Daily Observer. He implored all Muslims to follow the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and the Sunna of the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (SAW). "The Qur'an is the book of Allah. It is here to guide the Muslims and it cannot be changed. Therefore, every Muslim should follow the teachings of the Holy Qur'an and the Sunna of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to avoid bringing confusion into the religion," Sheikh Hydara remarked.

"The influence of the Sufi Order within the Muslim world remains enormous and it is rare to find a Sunni Muslim ruler who is not affiliated to one of the orders," he said. Sheikh Muhammeh Hydara revealed that the Quadriyya Foundation started in 1166 and it was founded by Sheikh Abdul Quadri Jilani in Baghdad.

He described the foundation as the first foundation to be established with a strong membership in the world. The Quadriyya leader spoke at length on various issues and called on all Muslims to unite and worship Allah.
