Kenya: Abducted Boy Found Unhurt

Nairobi — A 15-year-old boy who has been missing for three days after kidnappers grabbed him as his father escorted him to school has been found unhurt in Nairobi.

Eugene Nelson Mandela Ochieng' was found in a house at Dandora estate in the city's eastlands last night. He was found okay after a medical check-up and was Friday morning being debriefed by policemen at the Buruburu Police Station.

The boy was kidnapped shortly before 6am on Tuesday as his father, Mr Nelson Billy Adhok Ochieng' escorted him to school.

As they were driving away, the gangsters had demanded Sh1 million and drove off with the teenager without telling Mr Odhok how they wanted the ransom delivered.

After the kidnap, there has not been any communication from the abductors until shortly before midnight on Thursday when police found him locked up alone in a building in Dandora's Juakali area in Nairobi. Police say they became aware of the boy's whereabouts after getting a tip from undisclosed sources.

Residents in the area where the boy was found say police officers budged into their houses last night as they searched for the abducted boy. They found him at 11:47 pm, and he was shortly reunited with his parents.

On Friday morning, the boy who appeared traumatised, was accompanied by his parents to record a statement at a police station in Buruburu. He has not yet given any information about his ordeal.

So far, police say they have arrested eight suspects, six men and two women, in relation to the abduction. Two other suspects are said to have escaped.
