Harare — The woman accused of having an adulterous affair with Chitungwiza Mayor Israel Marange, was on Wednesday granted a peace order against her estranged husband.
Harare magistrate, Ms Sandra Mupindu granted Ms Ruramai Ushe's an order to protect her from her ex-husband, Mr Innocent Musariri from interfering with her life.
"It is hereby ordered that the application for a peace order be and is hereby granted. The respondent (Musariri) is hereby ordered to keep peace towards the applicant at all material times.
"He should not physically assault the applicant. Respondent is ordered not to verbally abuse the applicant.
"He is barred from threatening or harassing or intimidating the applicant in any manner. The respondent is further ordered not to engage in any acts, which directly or indirectly affect the complainant's peace adversely," ruled Ms Mupindu.
Ms Ushe, who was represented by Harare lawyer, Mr Emmanuel Nyambuya of Muskwe and Associates, had told the magistrate that there was no longer any union between her and Mr Musariri, as they separated in 2007.
Mr Nyambuya, who neither confirmed nor denied the alleged affair between Ms Ushe and Mayor Marange, said his client had only been co-habiting with Mr Musariri. "The respondent is now claiming that the Chitungwiza mayor took his wife when they were never married, they were co-habiting and my client is just like any other girl in town, she can engage anybody," said Mr Nyambuya.
