Lagos — The Sports ground at Anthony Village came alive yesterday as Lagos State governor Raji Fashola flagged off the Top Town Challenge put together by Christus Sports International and Lagos State government. The event kicked off by 7am with a fitness walk with Governor Fashola flagging off the walk

The event which is meant to discover talents from the community level will see communities in Anthony Village lock horn with each other in an attempt to produce talents . Participants will be competing in four events- soccer, table tennis, basketball and track and field, and at the end a team will be selected to represent Anthony Village in an inter community competition.

According to Adeniyi Ladega, CEO of CSI, the idea behind this, is to reposition the communities in Lagos and other parts of the country, as the bedrock for the production of future stars.

He stressed that the lack of nurseries in our sports was responsible for the decline in sports in the country. The three-day event began with a road show on Friday and will end today with lots of side attractions.
