Uganda: Karamoja Runners for Amuria Feat

Kampala — RUNNERS from the Karamoja region will provide the biggest attraction, as Amuria hosts the first Eastern Regional Championship today

The MTN-sponsored regional track and field championships will be the first of its kind in the new district located between Soroti and Lira.

The event will see athletes attempt to hit the qualifying mark for the national championships due July 24-25 at Namboole. Amuria were third in the national championships last year.

Karamoja region will be represented by runners from Kotido, Moroto and Nakapipirit in the one-day event which will also bring together athletes from long distance power houses Kapchorwa, Bukwo and Sironko.

Elsewhere, the fifth edition of the West Nile championships will take place in Yumbe. Athletes from Arua, Adjumani, Moyo, Nebbi, Koboko and Yumbe will participate.
