Kampala — Sports scribes converge this morning at Oasis Restaurant, Lugogo to choose the Uganda telecom/USPA sports personality for the month of June. 2008/9 National Super League champions Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and steeplechase runner Benjamin Kiplagat are the odds on favourites to win.

URA won their third league title in four seasons after a one-all draw with Kampala City Council (KCC) FC in the last game of the season. Both teams had finished level on points, 78 apiece, but URA had a better goal aggregate.

Kiplagat set a new 3000m steeplechase national record of 8:12:98seconds at the Ostrava Golden Spike meet in Czech Republic. The lanky athlete also improved his personal best of 8:14:29 after out-pacing the experienced Kenyan trio of Ezekiel Kemboi, Olympic champion Brimin Kipruto and Bahrain's Tareq Tahel.
