Nigeria/Egypt: Egyptian Delegation Drums Support for El Din

Lagos — A high powered delegation of the Egyptian National Olympic Committee (ENOC) that arrived Abuja at the weekend to participate in the election of the secretary general of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) have mounted a strong campaign for their candidate.

The Egyptian delegation comprises, among others, lieutenant general Munir Thabet, the chairman of the Egyptian National Olympic Committee and Counselor Khaled Zein El Din, the secretary general of the Egyptian national Olympic committee (ENOC) and the Egyptian candidate for ANOCA secretary general post.

A statement issued by Dr. Mohammed Saber of the Egyptian Embassy in Abuja said Counselor Khaled Zein EL Din (54 years) is the vice chairman of the Egyptian Authority of State Lawsuits. "He is a man of long and rich career in sports and law. He has a lot of credentials. He holds several positions in the world of sports at the international, continental, regional and national levels," observed the statement.

"His objectives are to spread high performance sports centers all over the continent and elevate the level of sports in Africa and spread the Olympic spirit all over the continent.

He believes that sports can contribute as an effective tool in deepening interaction among African nations and solving many African problems. To achieve his objectives, he plans to engage all the stakeholders in coordinated efforts to develop African sports and elevate the standard of African sport teams' performance." The statement continued.
