Kampala — Proline FC has tabled a proposal to save ailing club Nalubaale in a merger that could see the first divison soccer academy join the Uganda Super League, sources have told New Vision.
The agreement to form Proline-Nalubaale FC is due to be presented to the soccer governing body FUFA and Super Division Clubs Association today before a formal takeover is confirmed.
Nalubaale gained promotion to the super league in 2007 but struggled after founder Abdukarim Njubi abandoned it, accusing players and officials of lack of commitment. Caretaker chairman Joseph Mwanje declared all the contracted players of the Buikwe-based outfit free agents.
When contacted for a comment, league secretary Moses Magogo said that the club can be given a new name if the Nalubaale FC constitution allows it.
