Kampala — FIRST Lady and Karamoja affairs state minister Janet Museveni has urged people to promote cross-border security between the pastoral tribes of Uganda, Kenya and Southern Sudan.
She was speaking in Moroto town recently while flagging off athletes who participated in the sixth Telga Laroupe Peace Race.
The annual peace race was initiated by Kenyan international athlete, Telga Laroupe, to promote peace and harmony among the pastoral tribes on the Uganda, Kenya and Sudanese borders. The event attracted participants from the three countries.
Mrs. Museveni said it was a great shame for people to kill each other because of animals, read a statement from the State House issued over the weekend.
The race was won by Kenya. Uganda came second.
Kenyan information and communication minister Samuel Phoghisio urged the border communities to stop raiding cattle and concentrate on education.
The next race will be hosted by Kenya.
