Amid controversy surrounding Michael Jackson's death, local music fans have flocked to music stores to buy the pop legend's albums.
Local music stores have received an overwhelming number of orders for Michael Jackson recordings.
Jackson's records, from the classic 'Thriller' to the more recent ones such as 'Dangerous', were quickly snapped up and sold out from music shops last weekend following his death on the early hours of Friday after suffering from a cardiac arrest.
Kitso Monametsi of Musica in Riverwalk confirmed that even though they did not have many albums by Michael Jackson, they sold the few that they had. He said they had 17 albums altogether and last week Friday they sold 10 copies and the remaining seven on Saturday.
The albums included those that date back to when Jackson was still young and in his family group, The Jackson 5, which consisted of him and his four brothers Jermaine, Jackie, Marlon and Tito.
To address the rising demand shops have started to take orders from fans. Orders range from CDs to DVDs of the famous music legend.
The music department in Game Discount Stores in Gaborone and Francistown also confirmed a sudden rise in demand for Jackson's albums.
Monametsi did not give a specific date when they will have the albums's in stock but he affirmed that they will be available during the course of this week.
Jackson, who was set to perform at his comeback concert in London this month before his untimely death has had people talking.
Wacko Jacko's porpularity was both negative and popular. Michael Jackson fans have created groups on the social networking site 'Facebook' in memory of him as well as posting comforting messages on their status updates.
Others, who did not like the star, have also commented. One statement that most anti-Jackson Facebook users have posted on their walls is that "Michael Jackson was born a black person but he died looking like a white woman".
Dr Vom of Thobane fame, says that although Jackson was on a different continent, his death is a loss to him as an artist as well as to his fans.
Dr Vom couldn't hide his excitement on being a Jackson fan and mentioned that he has a collection of three Dvd's of the singer including Dangerous, the singer's 8th album.
