Namibia: Smoky Has a Date With Zola

3 July 2009

NAMIBIAN flyweight boxer, Joseph 'Smoky' Hilongwa will trade blows with South Africa's Mhuleki Zola in the main bout of an international boxing bonanza at the NamPower Convention Centre tomorrow.

The Namibian boxer, who had a stint in the US to further his professional career, has seven wins from eight fights, with one being declared as a no contest.

His opponent is rather less experienced and has so far won two fights from his total of four, losing twice.

Hilongwa, who is now in the stable of Dolph No Limit Boxing Promoters and who is the Namibian champion in that weight category, said he has no mercy for any opponent that comes his way.

"I am warning whoever who wants to take me on to be prepared for the challenge because I will smoke them out. When I fight, I am serious. Boxing is a serious business and I am warning Zola that he better come prepared, otherwise he is in for big trouble," said the stocky boxer. The fight will be determined over 10 rounds.

Hilongwa will step into the ring to finish off the proceedings on the night in the main bout, with other Namibian fighters also expected to take on foreign opposition.

In the main supporting bout, Namibia's Gottlieb Shileka will meet Zimbabwe's Richard Hwata in a six-rounder in the welterweight class.
