Angola: Deputy Minister Suggests Improvements in Agriculture

Sirte — The country's agricultural situation has improved substantially in the last five years.

This was said on Thursday in Sirte City, Libya, by the deputy minister of Agriculture minister, Zacarias Sambeny.

The official, who was speaking on the sidelines of the 13th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), under the theme "Investing in agriculture for economic growth and food security" revealed improvements in the production and agricultural productivity, as well as in the nutritional field.

Regarding the subject of the summit, the official mentioned the issue of climate change, underlining that the recommendations and investment of the states is to make a responsible and sustainable agriculture based on an integrated management of water resources and forests.

Zacarias Sambeny integrates the Angolan delegation to the summit, headed by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, representing the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos.

The Angolan delegation is also integrated by Foreign Affairs minister Assunção dos Anjos, the ambassadors of Angola to Ethiopia and Algeria, Manuel Augusto and Hermínio Escórcio, respectively.
