Monrovia — Liberia's Vice President Joseph N. Boakai at the head of a ten-member delegation leaves the country on Friday, July 3 for a two-week visit to the People's Republic of China.The visit will take the Vice President and delegation to Beijing and Shanghai, where they will hold discussions with officials of the Chinese government, members of civil society and the business community.
In Shanghai, the Vice President and delegation will visit the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall and Museum, Rice Growing and Fish Culturing Projects and ZTE Company and the Shanghai Orient Pearl Tower. In Beijing, the Vice President and party will attend the Graduation ceremony of Peking University, several companies, the China-Liberia Investment and Trade Forum and meet African Diplomatic Corps.
He will also visit the famous Tiananmen Square and meet and hold discussions with His Excellency Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the China People's Congress. The Vice President will also meet with Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping, and visit Sangao Hi-tech Agriculture Park and the Beijing Olympic Stadiums.
The Vice President's visit to China will be climaxed with the signing of an agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation between the Republic of Liberia and the Government of the People's Republic of China.Vice President Boakai's delegation include Second Lady Kartumu Y. Boakai, Minister of Planning and Economic Affairs, Honorable Amara Konneh, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications Jeremiah Sulunteh, the Chief of Staff in the Office of the Vice President, Samuel Stevquoah and Honorable George G. Wisner, Assistant Minister, Afro-Asian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
