The main business of a bank is to take deposits and gives loans. A bank buys and sells money. Banks ranked according to customer deposits. The purpose of this ranking is to present customer deposits ranking information of each bank in Ghana. The table shows the customer deposits of each bank in 2008.
Ghana Commercial Bank customer deposits was GHc 1.03 billion in 2008 and the first in ranking. Second in position was Barclays Bank with Ghc 924 million. Standard Chartered bank was third with GHc 742 Million. EcoBank was fourth with GHc 683 million. Stanbic Bank was Fifth with GHc 370 million. Zenith Bank was sixth with GHc 335 million. Agricultural Development Bank was seventh with GHc 320 million. Merchant Bank was eighth with GHc 317 million. In ninth position was SG-SSB with GHc 299 million. Intercontinental Bank was tenth with GHc 264 million. Amal Bank was eleventh with GHc 260 million. First Atlantic Merchant Bank was Twelfth with GHc 237 million.
Prudential Bank was thirteenth with GHc 195 million Cal Bank was fourteenth with GHc 161 million. Fidelity was fifteenth with GHc158 million. UBA was sixteenth with GHc 150 million.
The Trust Bank was seventeenth with GHc 123 million. Guaranty Trust Bank was eighteenth with GHc 91 million. Uni Bank was nineteenth with GHc 90 million. HFC Bank was twentieth with GHc 85 million. International commercial Bank, twenty first position with GHc 74 million. UT Bank, twenty second position with GHc 26 million. Sahel Sahara Bank, twenty third position with GHc 5 million. Bank of Baroda twenty fourth position with GHc 3 million. Banks customer deposits are growing year in and year out.
