Sawa — Radio Sawa is making due contribution in entertaining, educating and informing youths, according to Maj. Mehreteab Kidane, Staff officer of agitation and information center in Sawa.
He said that initially the radio's broadcast was only confined to musical and entertaining programs but at present 23% of its program is focusing on historical, cultural, educational, agitation and political programs.
Maj. Mehreteab further pointed out that thanks to the tasks undertaken to upgrade and expand the coverage of the radio transmission, it has now reached Forto-Sawa sub-zone and some parts of Agordat, Tessenei and Dige sub-zones. Stating that preparations are underway to begin broadcasting regular programs in Arabic and Tigre languages, he indicated that vigorous endeavors are being made to seek ways of involving experienced journalists in the programs of Radio Sawa. He also outlined the tasks being undertaken to strengthen the technical and professional aspects of the radio.
