6 July 2009

Kampala — The Electoral commission says it does not need support from the UN to organise 2011 general elections.

This after Justice Forum leader Mohammed Kibirige Mayanja petitioned UN secretary general, Ban- Kimoon seeking for UN intervention for the country's free fair election.

He also reiterates the need for electoral reforms.

The commission however, defends its and capacity and impartiality in organizing polls.

Uganda is a sovereign State entitled to its own decision, the electoral commission chairperson, Badru Kiggundu argues.
