In a shocking turn of events, controversial retired Colonel John Mugyenyi has had his compensation fee for the Kisekka market tamed by the government. Col. Mugyenyi had demanded Shs42 billion as costs and damages for the revocation of his tender to redevelop Kisekka market. However, when President Museveni was told of the whopping figure, he vehemently opposed it, arguing that it was unrealistic.
The latest our sources have heard is that Col. Mugyenyi has accepted to have Shs34 billion slashed and he will now receive Shs8 billion. Now, the question in the corridors of power is why Col. Mugyenyi had inflated the figure and just who were the officials from the Ministry of Finance tipped to benefit from the inflated value.

It is now official; State House has got first-hand information regarding a top Ministry of Works technical official, who has been hoodwinking the public. For the past months, the official had been deviating debate on why some of the road works are still in a pathetic state.
In his own words, the official would tell his critics, especially in opposition that much as the national budget gives them a huge increment for the past two years, the money ends up doing political work in State House and for the ruling NRM party.
On landing on such reports, State House security swung into action to verify whether indeed the official was making those remarks before the opposition.
They then laid trap of a meeting he had with a vocal opposition politician which was held at the Technical official's country home in western Uganda.
In the recording, they have the technocrat telling the opposition politician that his long stay in the ministry is because some State House officials are happy with the way he facilitates their mobilisation. He boasted of what State House describes as falsehoods, that the President personally calls him on such schemes. The recording is reported to have incensed State House big wigs.
