Angola: Angolan Premier Meets Caf Chief Over CAN/2010

Luanda — Angolan Prime Minister, António Paulo Kassoma, spoke this Monday, in Luanda, with the chairperson of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou, about the preparation of the African Nations Cup (CAN/2010), to be held next January 10-31 in Angola.

At the end of the audience with the Premier who is also the coordinator of the national monitoring commission of CAN2010, Issa Hayotou did not speak to journalists.

Angolan minister for Youth and Sport, Gonçalves Muandumba, who attended the meeting, considered the visit of CAF chief as "opportune and very positive".

Before the meeting with the premier, the African sport leader met Angolan Sport minister, Gonçalves Muandumba, with whom he discussed issues about security, visas issuing, transports, accommodation, protocol, and others linked to the organization of the continental tournament.

Muandumba said that CAF leader is satisfied with what he saw in Angola, either having to do with infrastructures, or concerning organization.

The Angolan government guaranteed that everything will be done so that nothing misses during CAN.

Concerning visas issuing for foreign delegations, the Sports minister affirmed that Angolan state will be able to combine the defence of interests and sovereignty with the holding of the competition, guarantying that there will be visas for all who want to come to Angola in an organised manner.
