Eritrea: Voluntary Relocation of Families to Fertile Areas Continues

Mendefera — More than 270 families from the sub-zones of Mendefera and Areza have been voluntarily relocated to fertile areas in Omhajer so as to improve their standard of living through actively engaging in agricultural practices.

Reports indicated that the families have been repeatedly requesting to resettle in convenient areas in order to boost agricultural output, and thus upgrade their living condition. Expressing satisfaction with the support being extended by the Government, they asserted readiness to play active role in efforts to achieve food security.

It is to be recalled that earlier a total of 1,366 families from the sub-zones of Senafe, Adi-Quala, Dubarwa and Emni-Haili were relocated to Golij sub-zone in Gash-Barka region.
