Abuja — The Chief Executive Officer of the London 2012 Olympic Games Committee, Lord Sebastine Coe yesterday urged all Olympic Movement member-countries to prepare their minds to participate at the games in a free and conducive environment before their indigenous fans.
Coe, who stated this in a chat with reporters, shortly after the opening session of the 13th Ordinary General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) in Abuja, noted that there is no country in the world without its community found in London.
"I want all the countries to come to London 2012 Olympic Games and perform in front of their home crowd. We have more than 3,000 communities in London and there is no country in the world without a community in London", Coe stated.
According to the London 2012 Olympic Games Chief Executive Officer, preparations for the games have reaches a crescendo, with the committee voting a staggering over 500 million pounds to provide the facilities.
He said five of the major venues needed for the quadrennial sports showpiece like the Games Village, Aquatic Centre and the Broadcast Centre will be ready ahead of the Games.
Finally, Coe praised to tremendous contribution of African countries to the rising profile of Olympic movement and sport, pointing out that for 30 years Africa has contributed greatly to the redefinition of world sports, especially athletics.
