Somalia: Zanzibar Refugees Complain Without Health Care

Mogadishu — The Zanzibar refugees in the Somali capital Mogadishu are complaining bout with out health care and livelihood difficulties, one of the refugees told Shabelle radio on Tuesday.

Many families of the Zanzibar refugees in the capital said that the greatest problem they have is lack of health care, food pointing out that they could not pay the money to buy the medicine or cure the illness.

Reports say that most of the Zanzibar refugee families were sleeping in their camp in Wakalada Biyaha building in the Somali capital Mogadishu.

Ali Zanzibar, a deputy chairman of the Zanzibar refugee camp in the capital said that they used to get medicine from the Ugandan and Burundian peacekeepers in Mogadishu, but said that they halted due to fears to be mistaken to those who work with those forces and targeted.

Mr. Ali said that there are at least 5 people including women, children and adult who have different illness in the camp currenlty.

The Zanzibar refugees in the capital had lastly asked the Somalis and aid agencies to help them to get healthcare, good shelter to recover their livelihood.

The complaining families of the Zanzibar refugees in Somalia seems to be caused to with out sanitation in their camp as the toilets there filled.
