Temeke fought daringly yesterday to post a 3-2 victory over Kagera in a closely fought Copa Coca-Cola match at Karume Memorial Stadium.
Temeke started the match lively, sending waves of attacks to their opponents and up to the breather, they had a comfortable 2-0 lead.
It took them 14 minutes only to break the deadlock through Kassim Juma who fired a powerful screamer past Kagera defenders.
Ten minutes later, Issa Twalib outpaced Kagera defenders who looked unsettled to add the second goal.
Kagera started the second half strongly as it took them 3 minutes to score their opener through Erick Emanuel who connected Hamidu Abubakar's pass.
However, they were heartbroken in the 80th minute when Kassim Juma extended the lead to 3-1 with a stupendous goal. The scorer capitalised on defensive blunders of their opponents.
Three minutes to the stoppage time Isaac Samuel revived hopes of snatching a point when he scored the second goal for Kagera.
"We all played well unlike our opponents who resorted to a defensive game in both halves I congratulate my team mates for their fighting spirit," said Juma.
The victory was a relief to Temeke fans who watched their team succumb to a 2-3 defeat at the hands of Mbeya on Friday.
In another match, Morogoro continued to shine after thrashing Mtwara 5-0 at Karume Memorial Stadium.
On Friday, Morogoro destroyed hapless Unguja South before being forced to a 1-1 draw by Ilala at the same venue.
At Kibaha centre, Unguja North thumped Rukwa 4-0 in the one-sided encounter while at Kawe Pwani stunned Singida 2-1 in a thrilling match.
Prior to yesterday's match Singida humiliated Shinyanga with 3-0 victory in a match held at the Karume Memorial Stadium.
Sponsored by Coca-Cola, the tournament continues today in its four venues.
