Beatus Kagashe

6 July 2009

Muslims all over the country have started 40 days special prayers crying for the almighty God punish those participated in preparing the ruling party manifesto and government move to incorporate Islamic principles into the laws.

The chairperson of all Muslims committees sheikh Suleiman Kilemile said the prayers have started yesterday in the afternoon and will continue while other means for pushing for the establishment of the kadhi courts are continuing.

"Because the ruling party has shown disrespect of high standards to Muslims we are praying asking the Almighty God punish all those participating in this and asking God to make it possible for the establishment of the kadhi courts," said Kilemile

Reading the statement after the meeting of more than 400 imams and sheikhs gathered at the Mtoro mosque in Dar es Salaam yesterday sheikh Mohamed Issa said Muslims have been annoyed and sadden by the government move to incorporate Islamic principles into laws.

Issa said on Friday they will held a peaceful demonstrations to force the government change its stance on kadhi courts and make sure kadhi courts are established immediately.

In a press conference last week, the Mufti of Tanzania Sheikh Shaaban Issa Simba rejected the government move to incorporate Islamic Principles into laws and treating Muslims as the second-class citizens in their own country.

Issa said the ruling party (CCM) will be punished by the Muslims community for lying by using soft language and tricky in their manifesto.

Issa said this is the last time of negotiations with the government and if they will play with such opportunity, no one will be blamed as actions that are more serious are coming.

"We are calling Muslims to use their hands to fight this humiliation and one of the ways not to vote for such leaders because your vote are such strong not to return muslims enemies," said Issa

"We are planning to punish the ruling party in the coming general election, we have the reasons, aim and the capacity of doing so and the almighty God have promised victory to his followers," added Issa

He added that there is no Muslim leader who is allowed to give views on the incorporation of the Islamic principles into laws as it is forbidden and may cause curse to the nation.

"We want the government involve Muslims in matters which are of concern about their faith than using people who don't know anything because we have many experts in these laws," said Issa

They accused the government and the parliament being used by the churches for the Christians interests but denying Muslims thinking are starbon people.

"We are strongly condemning the Christians churches interfering in the Muslims faith and the government siding with the church to oppress Muslims," said Issa

Issa said the minister for constitutional and legal affairs Mathias Chikawe lied to the Tanzanians by giving the example of South Africa.

"According to 2007 statistics, South Africa has only 772,678 muslims which is 2 percent of all of total population of 41.7 million," said Issa.

"We are saying that Muslims are love peace and there is no any place where kadhi courts has caused chaos but to deny this right might cause violence as we will fight for our faith to the end," said Issa
