Gambia: Olympic Day Run to Be Held

The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) will join the rest of world on 4th July to celebrate the Olympic Day Run. This is year's theme is 'Youth Empowerment Against Drugs and Alcohol'.

The Olympic run is said to be the best mass sports in the world and that it is organized to celebrate the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and that it offers a great opportunity for a large audience to experience the Olympic values and live the Olympic experience.

According to Momodou Demba of the Olympic Committee, they are expecting most of the schools in the Greater Banjul Area to participate in the run and that a total of about 1000 participants will take part in the different races. According to him, a similar run will take place in the Lowe River Region (LRR) and Upper River Region (URR).

Mr. Demba said there will be having a 3km, 5km and 10km runs.
