Gambia: Steve Biko Denies Brikama United FA Quarter Final

Late strike by Ousman Jarju in the 87th minute shattered Brikama Utd's dream of playing in the quarter final of the Gamtel sponsor FA Cup.

The well contested match that was played on Sunday at the Box Bar stadium in Brikama seemingly could have gone to Brikama's favour had they maintain their initial momentum in the game.

Alhagie Bah opened the score line for Brikama Utd in the 21st minute when he thundered a cracker from outside the 18yard.

Lamin Findi Jammeh also came close to putting his name on the score sheet for Utd when he hooked on the break through pass and sent in a low drive, but goal keeper Buba Njie Dampha's dive averted the danger.

The visitors' Steve Biko replied to Utd's lone goal in the 57th minute as Malamin Jammeh slotted in from a close range.

Utd came back to the lead in the 67th through Buba Faye who capitalized on a rebounded ball after Alhagie Bah's first attempt was punched out by Buba Njie Dampha.

Thereafter Brikama Utd continued to defend their lead. However, due to lack of concentration and fatique amongst Utd players, Ousman Jarju came to the rescue of Steve Biko when he fired in the 87th minute. At the final whistle, the score line was 2-2. In the ensuing penalties, the score sheet is 4 for Biko and 2 for Brikama thereby booking a place in the last eight.
