Harare — ALL is set for the official launch of this year's rebranded Copa Coca Cola Football Stars Under-16 Boys soccer tournament on Friday at Churchill Boys High in Harare.

Previously the event was known as NASH Coca-Cola Schools tournament.

Sponsors Delta Beverages, through their brand Coca-Cola, decided to rebrand the schools football tournament after a successful Copa Coca-Cola Football Stars tourney held in South Africa in June involving 10 countries.

Already the district and zonal competitions are underway.

NASH Head in Charge of Soccer National, Antony Mhene, unveiled the venues for all 10 provincial contests scheduled for July 17.

Gutu High will host the Masvingo provincial finals, Marondera High the Mashonaland East finals, Chinhoyi High the Mashonaland West finals and Hermann Germainer the Mashonaland Central finals.

In Harare schools will converge at Prince Edward while Gifford High will be the venue in Bulawayo with Collen Bawn High hosting Matabeleland South schools.

The schools from Matabeleland North will converge at Barbourfields, Mandava High will host Midlands and the venue for Manicaland was not available at the time of going to press.

The national finals have been set for July 31-August 2 at Chinhoyi High School.

The individual prizes on offer include player of the tournament, outstanding goalkeeper, best defender and best midfielder while there will be an award for the Golden Boot winner and the most disciplined player.

"We request from the participants, during the tournament, their original birth certificate, school identity card signed by the headmaster and school stamp and Grade 7 result slip or certificate," said Mhene.

Sponsors Coca-Cola urged various coaches from the Premiership to Division One to come and identify raw talent at the tournament.

Gunners head coach Moses Chunga is a firm believer in such raw talent and has been a regular visitor to these finals in previous years.

Past winners of the tournament include Mzilikazi High, Hippo Valley, Mt Pleasant, Pamushana, Lord Malvern and defending champions Churchill Boys High.
