Angola:Parliament Speaker Gets Farewell Greetings From German Ambassador

7 July 2009

Luanda — Bilateral relations between Angola and Germany recorded a substantial increment in the economic and cultural fields over the two last years.

This was said Tuesday in Luanda by the German ambassador to Angola, Bernd Morast.

Speaking to the press after presenting farewell greetings to the speaker of the National Assembly (Angolan Parliament), Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, the diplomat said there are more contacts currently among businesses from both countries.

According to Bernd Morast, there are currently in Angola 20 Germany firms' offices, two Lufthansa flights a week, while a liaison officer has been appointed to take care of the relations among companies from both countries.

He said he came to Angola to strengthen existing bilateral relations, a task he considers as accomplished, given the success noted in his two years mission.

The diplomat stated as well a great development in the bilateral relations has been noted over the last two years, boosted with the visit Angolan head of State paid to Germany in February this year.

He also highlighted the recent opening of the Germany Cultural Institute and the visit of his country's parliamentary delegation to Angola as an evidence of the strengthening of existing bilateral relations.

At the end of his two-year diplomatic mission to Angola, Bernd Morast also presented on Tuesday farewell greetings to the prime minister, Antonio Paulo Kassoma.
