Abeokuta — President Umaru Yar'adua has disclosed that the rehabilitation of the Lagos/Ibadan road would commence next month by the new concessionaires, Bi-courtney limited.

He therefore appealed to Ogun state government to further assist in the movement of trailers parked indiscriminately along the ever-busy road to make for smooth repairs.

In his address at the official commissioning of the new Ogun state secretariat, at Oke-mosan, Abeokuta, on Monday, Yar'adua stressed that the road project was important to the administration, saying that, "the provision of critical infrastructure is a major challenge component of our Seven-Point Agenda. "Concessioning will allow us to take advantage of the expertise and resources of the private sector to provide and maintain physical infrastructure needed to improve the productive capacities of our people and grow our economy," he said.

Yar'adua added that the involvement of private sector "will also expand the resources available to government to invest in deepening human capital in our country," pointing out that Nigeria could count on the support of the state government for the success of experiment.
