South Africa: Former City Press Editor Appointed to the Presidency

Pretoria — Seasoned journalist and former City Press Editor Vusi Mona has been appointed Acting Deputy Director General: Communications in the Presidency.

Also making his way to the Union Buildings is former SABC producer Vincent Magwenya, who has been appointed as acting spokesperson to President Jacob Zuma.

Prior to being editor of City Press, Mr Mona had been the publication's features editor and deputy editor. Mr Mona was also editor of Tribute magazine in the late 90s and was founding editor of The Teacher newspaper.

He also had a stint as managing director of a corporate communications firm, The Corporate Communications Agency, a subsidiary of The Agency for Marketing and Advertising.

More recently, he was the head of communications, media and public relations at Rhema Ministries.

Speaking to BuaNews, Mr Magwenya said he was excited about his new appointment. "Its a privilege and honor for me to be given an opportunity to serve the President and the country.

"I am looking forward to implementing the President's undertaking and consistently engaging with the South African public," said Mr Magwenya.
