Lagos — Residents of Ibafon in Ajeromi-Ifelodun who were completely sacked from their abode each time it rains are calling on the concerned Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government and the Lagos State government to come to their aid.
According to the residents, flood usually enters into their houses whenever it rained thereby making residing in the houses unbearable.
They lamented that each time, there is rainfall, they have to relocate their families to houses of friends and relations who live in relatively safer areas.
They complained that the whole area is now flooded, making moment unbearable while they cannot stay in their houses as well.
For instance, at Kukoyi Street, those living on the ground floor of a one-story building were forced to abandon their bungalows and take refugee upstairs.
They complained that their household materials ranging from chairs, rugs, foams to even electronics have been spoilt due to the problem.
According to them, they normally display them outside to be dried by the sunshine but that whenever the rains last for more than a day, many of such properties get damaged.
Some of the victims made fervent calls on the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, to save their souls.
"We call on Fashola to come and save us from this hardship as the occurrence is making our houses unsafe and unhealthy,' one of the residents urged.
Now that the rain has kept on pouring without stopping for days, one can imagine the deplorable situation they would be now. There is urgent need for the government and the local government authority to come to the aid of these people before they are washed away by flood.
