Kigali — APR's leading striker Ndjoli Bokungu is a major target for Angolan club Athletico Sports Aviaçao, according to reports in the DR Congo media.
Bokungu is said to have played two games for DR. Congo's local club Leopards Santos Muntubile since going AWOL (Away without Official Leave) in May. APR Secretary General Adolf Kalisa told Times Sport yesterday that they are well aware of the transfer rumour.
"We have heard about the player being in contact with the Angolan club but this is illegal. If Athletico Sports Aviaçao want the player, they will have to contact APR to approve his International Transfer Certificate (ITC)," Kalisa said.
"In fact, APR is planning to punish Bokungu for breaching his contract (with the club). We are going to suspend him and even inform DR Congo football federation (Fecofa)," Kalisa added.
Bokungu disappeared from APR after the national football league was put on hold in mid-May to pave way for Amavubi's preparations ahead of their 2010 World/Africa Nations Cup qualifiers against Zambia and Zambia.
The striker has scored 12 goals this season, two behind top scorer Jean Lomami (Atraco).
