Ghana: Accra Special - Is Accra Ready for Obama's Visit?

The capital city on Friday would play host to the first African-American President of the United States of America, Hussein Barrack Obama.

The capital city has recently been bedeviled with filth, stench, pools of water, and flooding.

The Accra file has been touring some principal streets - from the country's airport, where it is gathered that brisk business was ongoing on the ceremonial routes - through to the Liberation Road to the Osu Castle. The major roads, which the President and his entourage would be plying, have succumbed to the rains and have developed gullies and potholes.

Despite the massive cleanup being executed by Zoomlion Waste Management to get the city prepared for the big visit, wayside beggars are having a field day.

The Kaneshie Market is buried in filth, spreading to the main Malam - Cape Coast road, and the rains have washed some parts of the Malam road away, which needs urgent attention.

Accra is now enveloped in floods, due to the unavailability, or the small size of drains on the sides of the roads, and is now causing havoc.

Pieces of information picked by the File reveals that the visiting President would be hosted at the plush La Palm Beach Hotel, situated at La, and the beaches there have been turned into a free for all squatting toilet. Earlier this week, the Police Administration issued a statement on how to free the ceremonial routes of traffic. The routes are the Liberation road, Independence Avenue, 28th February Road and Castle Road.

Brisk business is ongoing, but nobody seems to ask if, as a country, we really prepared to host the first African-American President of the United States.

Remember the 120 ! in the Upperroom, Gideon’s 300, One(1) believer can chase 1,000 demons & Two (2) can make 10,000 run .

How many will 1 million chase ?
