Eritrea: Eritrea Festival in Italy Conducted

Asmara — Eritrea Festival in Italy was conducted in Milan from July 3 to 5 in a patriotic spirit.

Eritrean nationals from a number of Italian cities, including Rome, Bari, Teramo, Catania, Naples, Firenze, Bologna, Torino, Genova, Bergamo and Brescia took part in the festival. Sports competition, cultural shows, literature contest, poetry recital, arts exhibition and other programs featured in the course of the three-day event.

The Eritrean Ambassador to Italy, Mr. Zemede Tekle, expressed appreciation to the Eritrean communities that played major role for the success of the festival.

Mr. Yemane Gebreab, Head of Political Affairs at the PFDJ, conducted a seminar to the festival participants focusing on the objective situation in the Homeland, the implementation of development programs aimed at achieving food security and ensuring economic emancipation. He also gave replies to questions put forth by the participants.

Reports also indicated that mothers and youth unions played active role in organizing the event, while an Italian friend of Eritrea, Mr. Stefane Petini, staged an arts exhibition on Eritrea. Individuals who demonstrated excellence in the competitions and those who made due contribution for the success of the Festival were awarded prize during the closing ceremony.

Bisha Cultural Troupe from Eritrea staged musical performance, thus adding color to the event.
