Jalingo — As part of its effort to reduce poverty among the vulnerable and the marginalised groups in the state, Taraba State Government said the implementation of Fadama III project would focus on people living with HIV/AIDS, widows and elderly people in the state.

This was disclosed by the state Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and chairman of Fadama Development Committee, Alhaji Saidu Ajiya Karim, during the orientation workshop organised for community facilitators and desk officers for the Fadama III project in the state.

He advised the facilitators and the desk officers to stay with the target beneficiaries, understand their priorities and help them to translate their projects into physical and economic empowerment. He added that the state government will do everything to make their work easy for the betterment of the target beneficiaries.

Karim said the government is aware of the mistakes of Fadama and they would be corrected in Fadama III. The Fadama III project coordinator for the state, Timothy Habison Zing, said the project will cover the 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state and the Yangtu special development area.
