Kampala — UNKNOWN assailants recently waylaid a cleric and cut him into pieces at a school where he was the head teacher. Bro. Andrew Mboninyimpe, the head teacher of St. Martin's Kijjukizo Primary School in Lyantonde district, is said to have been intercepted when he was unlocking his house shortly after midnight on Sunday.
The southern regional Police spokesperson, Noah Serunjogi, told The New Vision that Mboninyimpe was coming from Kampala where he had gone on official duties.
"He came back late and went to the headmaster's house where he was residing. After opening one of the locks of his door, thugs attacked him and cut him twice on the head," Serunjogi narrated.
Mboninyimpe run to the school, raising an alarm that attracted the pupils who were in class for extra revision, commonly known as 'winter', he added.
"The pupils saw two men cutting him, but they could not intervene because they feared they would also be killed," Serunjogi said. He said the pupils waited for almost an hour to make sure that the thugs had left before they raised an alarm.
"We sent a sniffer dog to trace the thugs, but when it reached Lyantonde town, it lost track. This could mean the suspects used either a bodaboda or a car to get away," Serunjogi said.
He called upon the residents to cooperate with the Police and give them any information that could lead to the arrest of the culprits.
