Kano — KANO State governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau has reiterated the commitment of the state government toward the timely completion of the the remaining works at both Sani Abacha and Kano Pillars stadia in order to meet up the FIFA's requirement before their final visit billed for this month.
Shekarau stated this while inspecting the imported artificial turfs, scoreboard and other facilities at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano.
Shekarau noted that the new imported scoreboard is the best in the country, adding that his government will continue to provided best facilities for the tournament.
While expressed satisfaction with the level of works currently going-on at the two stadia, he pledged that the state government will maintain its impressive performance by providing the best facilities not only in the sporting sector but other areas.
The governor who also hinted that due to the time factor, the state government approved the laying of some portion of the new tartan track which was in bad shape.
However, he expressed optimism that with the level of commitment and determination shown by the state government, Kano will scale through the FIFA selection.
The governor then urged the contractors handling the project to speed up works in order to ensure that the state beats the FIFA deadline.
Earlier, the state's Commissioner of Sports, Haruna Isa Dederi who conducted the governor round the stadium, said that most of the works at the two stadia have been completed.
Barr. Dederi told the Governor that laying of the artificial turfs, the media centre, dressing room and other areas will be completed within five days while the scoreboard of Sani Abacha Stadium are expected to be completed as soon as the manual work is completed.
